THE PERSON BEHIND THE WORK

The experience behind my work.

I’m John Mathews, an author, keynote speaker, executive coach, and the founder of JM Consulting.

My background spans emergency services, public leadership, and business operations. Those experiences shape how I think about people, responsibility, and the decisions we make under pressure.

For me, trust starts with the commitments we make and the evidence we give people over time. Today, I bring that perspective to my writing, speaking, and work with individuals, with a focus on adapting when circumstances change and following through on what we said we would do.

BUSINESS

Building and leading.

I served as Vice President of Business Operations at D&S Builders. During my tenure, the company’s annual revenue grew from approximately $50 million to approximately $150 million.

PUBLIC SERVICE

Responsibility under pressure.

I served as Sevier County’s Assistant Mayor for Emergency Services and Emergency Management Director. My background includes approximately 15 years in emergency services, including service as a firefighter and paramedic.

EDUCATION & COMMUNITY

Learning and contributing.

I hold an MBA in Business Administration and Management from Lincoln Memorial University. My service has included board, advisory, and mentoring roles across nonprofit, public-safety, and educational organizations.
